I love this park. It is a quiet little gem just north of the city. There is a fantastic playground and some large gathering areas at the top of the park. A disc golf course, soccer field, and some great walking trails.
The beach is a bit of a walk down the hill from the parking lot. There are two trails that will lead you there. I have never seen more than a handful of families or others seeking a peaceful place down on the beach. You can walk north or south along the sandy beach for quite a way to find the perfect spot to sit and read.
Fairly large county park with a lot of open space, reservable picnic areas, and picnic tables. Lots of mature trees along the ravines. Large parking lot.
My four-star review stems mostly from the lengthy beach, views of Lake Michigan, and the large children’s playground.
There is no running water or flush toilets, and the only semblance of a bathroom is a port-a-potty near the parking lot.
Dilapidated beach house still stands, with signage stating there’s an effort to restore and renovate, but no apparent effort to begin the work. When I was a kid this structure served as a changing house, concession store, and public bathrooms. Would be nice to see that again.
No bathrooms that were open and u clear signage on where to go or what's private property- however the treeline and ravine with a creeping creek were nice with the fall colors, and the glimpses of the beach were beautiful. I would come back.
Really really enjoyed coming here. Honestly a great experience. 10/10 recommend checking this park out a ton of trails with beach access. Absolutely breathtaking. Definitely worth visiting. It’s a long walk but 100% worth it. Pictures and words don’t do Justice for the beauty of this park.
This park is amazing. Although over the past few years it has become a natures beautiful disaster. I would give it 5 stars but it has a disgusting port a potty as the only resource of a restroom. Walk down the path to the beach and you would be amazed from the lakes sparkling view.
Absolutely gorgeous place.Drove three hours to take daughters senior pictures there and definitely worth the trip. We definitely will be planning another trip to just relax sometime soon.
Great park and less busy alternative to Lions Den. Three paths lead to pebble beach with some sandyish spots, two on left side of park and other on far opposite end! More scenic going down ravine on far side of park. Playground area for kids and a big grassy area. Great Lake Michigan access and big stretch of beach to explore!
A beautiful park I've been coming to for 45 years. A nice walk down to the lake, beautiful woods, play area for kids.
